@GailSimone Tough to cut down but my #top3rpg are 1) 7th Sea (1st) - my introduction to letting players improvise the details. 2) Champions (3rd) - unparalleled versatility, nuff said 3) Monsterhearts (1st) - Seeing how perfectly a rules system can emulate genre.
@GailSimone #Top3RPG Red Markets: Zombie Apocalypse wrapper for economic critique. Scarcity as mechanics. Eclipse Phase: Play a cyber raven ghost, possess kitchen, explode, save day. Planet Mercenary: Everyone has leadership, nobody is good at it.
@GailSimone d20 Modern is the system for which I created the most varied and wild content from the rules included. Rifts inspired my to buy a dozen source books, most of which I never used in game, but I read to this day. Shadowrun 2nd Ed was the first tabletop rpg I ever played. #Top3RPG
@GailSimone #Top3RPG 1. Apocalypse World, the one that started the journey for me into indie 2. Fall of Magic, showing how something so pared down could be so deep 3. Blades in the Dark, my current jam, I love the depth, and the new takes on great concepts from other games
@GailSimone I'm all for a good dungeon crawl sometimes, but my #Top3RPG are ones that mechanically reward RP and co-op storytelling: FATE: social combat! PBtA-based games: best interpersonal game mechanics I've seen Genesys: potential for unexpected side effects from creative actions
@GailSimone #Top3RPG D&D, it's a classic and I enjoy things from most editions; Chronicles of Darkness, love the rules and the flexibility of play choices; and Blades in the Dark, great story focused gameplay in a great setting.
