The spring semester can be intimidating with end of the year pressures but set goals for yourself and go into the year with confidence, we will all succeed!💙

Hopefully winter break provided the relief you needed whether it was academic, emotional, social, physical, etc. and remember to take time for yourself throughout the semester to continue to promote these aspects- we’re practicing self care all 2020!

The good news is students’ performance and scores are steadily increasing as D.C. public schools are pushing for change, change that we in Haven want to be a part of! Being a mentor can create a real, positive impact on a child’s life. We hope to see you at the interest mtg!💙

Here is the deadline for mentorship applications‼️ The day following our interest meeting, Tuesday, November 19 @ 11:59 PM is when applications are due. Please make sure applications are fully completed and submitted on time so that we can get back to you all in a timely fashion.

Here it is! Our first interest meeting will be Monday, November 18 in the Annex Multipurpose room. This meeting will serve as an introduction to Haven Week, as well as an informational about the organization, goals for the year, and answer any questions you may have about Haven!

We have a whole curriculum, training week, and preparation process prepared for you guys to make sure we’re performing to the best of our abilities at our schools. Haven is all about providing a safe space for mentorship, non-academic and academic. Help us create that space!👫

Unlike most mentorship orgs at Howard, Haven is gender-inclusive meaning the kids we work with, along with our mentors, range from boys, girls, and gender non-conforming youth. This being said, we have a high need for mentors across all genders! Stay tuned for more posts 💙
