If you are an aspiring developer and want to learn Go, I highly recommend “Head First Go”, an extremely well-written and easy-to-read book, written by @jaymcgavren, and published by @OReillyMedia. Also available as an Indian edition from @shroffpub @golang @GolcondaGophers

The first SysAdvent article for this year speaks highly of Head First Go, but they're right, finding a good tutorial book is only one piece of the puzzle. We strongly agree with their recommendations of Exercism and learning #git as well! sysadvent.blogspot.com/2021/12/the-my… #golang

In @headfirstgo the "pill container" analogy is used for an Array, which I really love. It's fixed size, and you index into the collection with a day of the week (0-6). It can't grow. Much better than the ladder analogy ;)

Some nice aspects of #golang only become obvious when you switch back to another language. For example, Go's function definition syntax progresses forward in time as you read left to right, from the parameters to the return type. C#/Java put the return type BEFORE the parameters!

I had disabled the "goimports" hook in my editor because I didn't want to miss noting when an import needed to be added in the samples for Head First Go. Just re-enabled it. Ahh, what a relief! 😌 godoc.org/golang.org/x/t…
