Ever since I first tweeted about gender politics I’ve never criticised @jk_rowling. I understood that she had received unacceptable abuse, and had been taken unawares by the responses to her initial feelings. Latterly I felt she could have been calmer & kinder given her position
@KirstieMAllsopp @jk_rowling There is no level of calmness and kindness that would be acceptable. We're saying no to male demands. That in itself is deemed 'unkind'.
@helenstaniland @KirstieMAllsopp @jk_rowling If I say, "maybe Trans women need a safe space too," there's even odds of any response being an accusation that I'm a groomer or pedophile. Maybe you don't want discussion with the other side. I get that, but good luck getting anything done if everyone who disagrees is an enemy.
@helenstaniland @KirstieMAllsopp @jk_rowling Women started to say no and men got mad. That is the purest distilled idea possible to sum up what happened.
@helenstaniland @KirstieMAllsopp @jk_rowling "She got a lot of abuse. After the abuse, she should've been nicer". Do you hear yourself?
