Ardena Agro is an integrated, zero-waste processing platform: palm oil + natural rubber. Right now we're in land and feasibility. Nothing is built yet. I'll tell you exactly where things stand, every week.
What you'll get here: threads on what I'm learning. The crop, the processing, the farmers, the trade. Same voice as @growingardena on Instagram. No hype, no announcements dressed as analysis.
Why threads: some ideas don't fit in one post. Every thread here mirrors the week's build. Follow along. Every fruit, every future.
1/ Nigeria’s palm oil deficit may not be 1 million tonnes. The number is repeated everywhere. But government import spending, USDA data and industry demand estimates don’t reconcile. I ran the numbers. The more interesting problem isn’t the deficit. It’s yield. 🧵
3/ Now test the >1M-tonne claim against another government number. Estimated annual palm oil import bill: $500–600M 2025 average CPO price: about $1,045/tonne Midpoint: $550M ÷ $1,045 = 526,000 tonnes something is not adding up.
4/ That doesn’t necessarily make USDA “right.” It means we’re comparing numbers differently. Nigeria’s consumption estimates alone illustrate the problem: USDA → 8kg/person/year CPOPC → 11kg/person/year A 3kg difference across 235M people is a lot.
5/ Then add: • CPO vs refined olein vs PKO being mixed in commentary • different HS codes and prices • informal cross-border trade • estimated consumption vs recorded trade And suddenly “Nigeria has a 1M-tonne deficit” is much less precise than it sounds.
6/ But here’s the number I think investors and policymakers should be discussing: 0.47 tonnes/hectare. USDA estimates roughly: 3.2M harvested hectares 1.5M tonnes production Nigeria already has enormous oil-palm acreage. Starting to look like productivity is the problem.
7/ Move average output from 0.47 to just 1.0 t/ha on the same 3.2M hectares. Incremental production: 1.7M tonnes. That’s multiples of the USDA-implied deficit, without adding a single hectare.
8/ Instead of only asking: “How do we plant more oil palm?” Ask: “How do we get more oil from the hectares already planted?” Better genetics. Better agronomy. Rehabilitation. Harvest discipline. Lower losses. Higher extraction rates. Better mills.
9/ Nigeria has a palm oil supply problem. But reducing it to a “1M-tonne deficit” risks obscuring the larger opportunity. The real arbitrage is yield. I’d be interested in hearing from operators in the value chain, what do you think Nigeria’s true consumption number is?
I'm building an agricultural processing company in Nigeria, in real time. This account is the public notebook: the wins, the wahala, the work.

I took a step back from my own brand for almost 2years. Not because I didn’t care — but because I was drowning. But I’m back. Not with hype. With strategy, stamina, and soul. Let’s rebuild Didi Beauty — together. 🖤 👉 Follow @DidiBeautyCo to watch the full comeback unfold.
