[PT] What does À BEÇA mean? | Learn Portuguese #77 youtu.be/a-2j7zR6OTo
Another one I could have included in my last video: 🇧🇷 É só uma questão de tempo 🇺🇸 It’s just a matter of time
Vídeo novo: youtu.be/yHDpDiDTngo
Status in Portuguese 🟢Disponível: Available 🔴 Ocupado: Busy ⛔️ Não perturbe: Do not disturb 🟠 Ausente: Away ⚫️ Offline
I also added that we use “a estação, as estações” for: seasons, train station (estação de trem) While a TV show season is called “a temporada, as temporadas” and off-season means “baixa temporada”.
Today I was talking about the seasons on Instagram. As estações em português 🇧🇷: Primavera 🌸 Verão ☀️ Outono 🍂 Inverno ❄️
🇧🇷 Chutar o pau da barraca 🇺🇸 to lose one’s temper, to hit the roof Chutar: to kick🦵 Pau: a piece of wood, a stick 🪵 Barraca: tent ⛺️
🇧🇷Não me toquei 🇺🇸I didn’t realize/notice Tocar-se is used informally with the same meaning as perceber. Another way to use it: 🇧🇷 Você não se toca?! 🇺🇸 Can’t you take the hint?!
Latest video in Portuguese. Subs available. :) youtu.be/zxJQmsYWuyc
Word of the day: DIGITAR Digitar: to type ⌨️ 🇧🇷 Um bom teclado pode te ajudar a digitar mais rápido. 🇺🇸 A good keyboard can help you type faster.
In English: 💵 I need to withdraw 100 reais. 🏐 She’s the best of the team at serving. ❓We can’t walk around in public spaces without a mask, do you get it?
Word of the day: SACAR Sacar: to withdraw (money), to serve (volleyball), to understand (slang). 💵 Tenho que sacar 100 reais. 🏐 Ela é a melhor do time em saque. ❓Não dá pra andar em espaços públicos sem máscara, sacou?
Word of the day: CACHOEIRA Cachoeira: Waterfall 🇧🇷Nada como uma cachoeira no fim de uma longa trilha. 🇺🇸 Nothing like a waterfall at the end of a long hike.
What might be confusing is the fact that when we speak in normal to fast speed, todo o dia and todo dia sound identical. In 🇧🇷 o dia todo is used more often than todo o dia.
In Brazilian Portuguese, o dia todo = o dia inteiro and todo dia = todos os dias. In Portugal, todo is always followed by an article, so we have o dia todo = todo o dia = all day. 🇺🇸 all day = 🇧🇷 🇵🇹 o dia todo, todo o dia 🇺🇸 every day = 🇧🇷 🇵🇹 todos os dias, 🇧🇷 todo dia
Word of the day: VENTILADOR Ventilador: fan 🇧🇷 As reuniões no Zoom e Teams estão ainda piores com o barulho de ventilador no fundo. 💨 🥵 🇺🇸 Zoom and Teams meetings are even worse with fan noise in the background.
Word of the day: ABASTECER. Abastecer: supply, provide, fill up. 🚗 🇧🇷 A viagem foi longa. Tivemos que abastecer o carro quatro vezes no caminho pra casa. 🇺🇸 It was a long trip. We had to fill up the car four times on the way home.
Word of the day: COCHILO 😴 Cochilar: to take a nap 🇧🇷 Você costuma cochilar à tarde? 🇺🇸 Do you normally take a nap in the afternoon? You can also say tirar um cochilo. 🇧🇷 Eu tiro um cochilo quando posso. 🇺🇸 I take a nap when I can.
Word of the day: MACHUCAR - Machucar-se: to hurt oneself - Eu me machuquei quando estava fazendo trilha: I got hurt when I was hiking. ⛰
Andar DE ônibus 🚌 Andar DE bicicleta 🚲 Andar DE carro 🚗 Andar A pé 🦶 Andar A cavalo 🐎 - Eu ando de ônibus com frequência, mas prefiro andar de bicicleta ou ir a pé para lugares próximos. - I ride the bus often, but I prefer to ride a bike or to walk to places nearby.
