@hemantmehta If there is a huge shortage of teachers it's because they are being told they have to report students for asking certain questions, not being able to mention their own spouse, and having lessons mandated by politicians while being underpaid and overworked.
@hemantmehta @rocapri Teachers are leaving because of no respect, crappy pay, stupid high stakes testing, and heaping amounts of nonteaching extra responsibilities.
@hemantmehta Teacher shortage is because of overcrowded classrooms, and 'under crowded paychecks'. It's a tough, (mostly) thankless job. Also, lazy parents expecting miracles from teachers.
@hemantmehta It would be nice, however, if there was at least a toggle in the attendance program to indicate these changes for the benefit of subs interacting with kids who are identifying differently.
@hemantmehta People with this type of mentality think that almost every kid is changing their gender identity. It's just not true. In 16 years of teaching I have only had 3 students do this. Out of hundreds of kiddos.
@hemantmehta There are plenty of reasons teachers are leaving but 100% this isn’t one of them.
@hemantmehta That’s not the reason, the reason ( I am a retired teacher), is low pay, being told what to teach, not being able to teach the truth ( in History classes), lack of support from parents, & in TX lack of support from the Governor. I could go on!
@hemantmehta @godlywomanhood FLA schools are 9k+ teachers short. I'm not sure it is for the reasons you though.
@hemantmehta I suspect Uvalde cops have for to do with the shortage than pronouns, and *they’re* still not the main reason.
@hemantmehta @godlywomanhood I’ve taught for 28yrs, no one is leaving the profession for any of your stated reasons. In my 28 I’ve encountered every type of student you’ve mentioned and they were taught with the same dignity and respect as others. We are not like you we do our job
