Anne Frank photographed with her sister Margot at the beach in Zandvoort, 1940. Margot was the elder sister of Anne, and according to Anne's diary, she also kept a diary of her own, but no trace of it has ever been found. She died in Bergen-Belsen concentration camp in 1945.
@historyinmemes Margot wrote the diary, edited by her dad.
@historyinmemes Anne Frank's only existing film images
@historyinmemes Tragic history. Heartbreaking loss. 🕊️💔
@historyinmemes her family could sadly only afford one ballpoint pen
@historyinmemes Sad but historically teachable to our ever connected youth.
@historyinmemes The tragedy of this picture is the normalcy. Two young girls having fun on a beach. If you told people what was to come in a few short years, how many would have said you were overreacting? Who could have believed the cruelty? Don’t ever think it can’t happen again.
