Let’s be frank: Mahmoud Abbas’s postponement of Palestinian elections, combined with the sluggish progress of the technocratic committee in Gaza, has left Palestinians wishing they were Israeli. In fact, if the residents of the West Bank and what remains of Gaza were offered a choice—between an Egyptian travel document and an Israeli passport, along with citizenship rights like those enjoyed by the Bedouins of the Negev—they would accept immediately. The Palestinian leadership has failed to hold a single criminal from Hamas accountable, has not recovered the billions of dollars held in the accounts of its leaders, and has made no progress on the ground—the list goes on and on. Isn’t it time to put a "Confederation of the Holy Land" @hlconfederation proposal on the table? Isn’t it time to establish a confederation between the Arabs of the West Bank and Gaza and the State of Israel? Hasn’t the Israeli election process revealed that the State of Israel is, in fact, a democracy—contrary to the narratives long propagated by Al Jazeera and Qatar? This presents an opportunity for the Arabs in the West Bank and Gaza to join it voluntarily. How much longer will Palestinians continue to seek the approval of Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Iran, and Turkey to determine their own destiny, while allowing factions like Fatah—under Mahmoud Abbas—and Hamas to seize funds and positions of power? There are some among the Palestinians—just as there are some within the nations we have mentioned—who do not desire peace in the Holy Land. My appeal to all is this: initiate a project for a confederation of coexistence and peace between Arabs and Israel. The Jews, no less than the Arabs, have a right to their Holy Land.
