There is a difference between you who is already a NELFUND beneficiary and someone who wants to become a NELFUND beneficiary. Existing NELFUND beneficiaries are required to request a new loan, while prospective beneficiaries are required to start the registration process from scratch.

🔥 FRESH 🔥 NELFUND 2026/2027 Registration Portal Now Accessible as Institutions Begin Uploading Students’ Details The NELFUND portal, which had been inaccessible since the commencement date and closing date for the 2026/2027 registration were displayed on the portal, is now accessible and running smoothly. Following this development, Team Honorable Updates has confirmed that some institutions have started uploading their students’ details to the NELFUND portal, with the University of Ilorin (UNILORIN) among the institutions where students’ details have started reflecting. Furthermore, returning NELFUND beneficiaries from previous years should note that even if they have completed their profile update during their previous application, they will be required to update their profile again before they can request a new loan for the 2026/2027 academic session. As part of the required update, beneficiaries will be asked to provide their BVN, account name and account number. Please note that this does not affect the two chances provided by NELFUND for editing bank details. The update is a general profile update that must be completed before beneficiaries can proceed with a new loan request. After completing the required update, beneficiaries can proceed to request a new loan for the 2026/2027 academic session. Also, returning beneficiaries will not need to re-upload their admission letters, as the portal has retained the admission letter submitted during their previous application. For new users, the portal is currently accessible and user-friendly. There’s a high chance that you may have to pay this particular year’s school fees yourself because the process, from registration to disbursement, is not something that happens quickly. It might not be completed before the university’s deadline. However, don’t worry. Once your funds are eventually disbursed to the University of Ilorin, the university will apply the money to your 2027/2028 school fees. If you are a finalist, you will be refunded the money instead.

UNILORIN students discovered a few months ago that their NELFUND portals showed their school fees as “disbursed.” Initially, according to the NELFUND portal, the disbursement was stated to be for the 2025/2026 academic session. As a result, many UNILORIN students started saying, “Oh, we are due for a refund.” Some even went as far as writing letters requesting refunds. However, let me give a simple and practical explanation that will help UNILORIN students understand what is going on and why this could actually be a win-win situation. The University of Ilorin will be commencing the 2026/2027 academic session in a month and a few days. Soon after the Senate meeting and other necessary considerations, the university is expected to activate the 2026/2027 school fees on the student portal. For students who rely on NELFUND to pay their school fees, we all know that, as of now, NELFUND has not officially announced when the portal for the 2026/2027 academic session will be opened. Even if NELFUND activates the portal before UNILORIN opens its school-fee payment portal, do you think the verification process that leads to disbursement can be completed before the university's payment portal closes? The answer is no. But do you know the interesting part? For students whose NELFUND portals show that their 2025/2026 school fees have been disbursed, their school fees may be settled for the next academic session (2026/2027) automatically, subject to NELFUND and the university's procedures. However, the university initially updated the tuition fee on the NELFUND portal to reflect the 2025/2026 academic session. Your 2026/2027 school fees may be slightly different because of changes in level, and other circumstances. This means that if your 2026/2027 school fee is higher than the amount previously disbursed for 2025/2026, you will only be required to pay the difference. If your 2026/2027 school fee is lower than the amount already disbursed, then you will be entitled to a refund of the difference. And if the fees remain exactly the same, then you simply have your school fees covered without having to go through another waiting process for a fresh disbursement. And regarding whether UNILORIN students will be receiving upkeep this month, do well to follow my page for updates. Update on it is coming soon. Stay tuned.
