I spent so long thinking/trying not to think about what I'd do in the short term if I had to leave med that I barely considered what I'd do if I passed. Other than getting a celebratory banjo, that is. Owlspouse is quite anti-banjo, but Owlspouse is away until next Friday...

I passed my exams! I didn't get thrown out! (That felt like a very real frightening possibility after the OSCE - some of my stations were like Carry On scenes.) I'm starting to believe that I really wasn't accepted by mistake! One day I will be the most excellent Dr Owl.

This morning I left home with a backpack and a violin. (Standard Thursday items.) This evening I arrived home with a backpack, a violin, and a 2nd hand Dutch bicycle that's now occupying 3/4 of the kitchen. This was absolutely a sound, non-impulsive purchase. No regrets.

Not only this, but Sunak is playing on the popular but untrue belief that disability benefits are unemployment benefits when in reality many disabled people work but still need Personal Independence Payment. Often PIP is what makes it possible to find and keep a job.

Moles and spillage; a thread (as I feel like I’m living in a sitcom. So, I have a cat. He’s awesome. Yesterday, said cat was taking an unusual interest in my lounge furniture. This was because he’d brought in a live mole and let it run around in my house

I was at work when booking opened for ye olde infamous aerial convention, so lots of classes were full when I went to choose mine. I've ended up with doubles trapeze, trap choreo, conditioning, yet more trap, and contortion. My A-delta fibres have issued notice to strike. 😫

It's been a very rough couple of days, but I've just had a brief music lesson that I can only describe as being like window-cleaning for the soul. It was only 25 minutes, but when I came out everything looked clearer and brighter.

I know obstetrics definitely isn't my thing (if there's anyone you don't want in charge of your C-section, it's the doctor with two left feet in place of hands) but we had such an amazing consultant teaching us that I almost wish I could do it.

I was idly playing Somewhere Over the Rainbow on my violin when my mum came in and enquired if it was Three Blind Mice. Mum has such touching faith in my abilities that she probably believes I could debut at Carnegie Hall if I tried. My ego is crushed.

I drove 150 miles to get to my dentist and according to my GPS I was due to arrive 25 mins early. Then I got lost. When I was only half a mile from the surgery. 25 mins early turned into 15 mins late. Too late to be seen. No appointments available until mid-April. I could cry.

Last week on my GP day we had our own mini-clinic where we examined pts and devised a plan before the GP came in to say yay or nay. Pros: I learnt so much! I felt so doctorly! Cons: I was coughed and wheezed over by everyone with a LRTI in a 40 mile radius and now I have one too.

I got very lucky with obs and gynae this year. We've had lots of teaching from an enthusiastic consultant who is so good at explaining things. When I see a foetus on ultrasound my reaction will now be, "Ah, I know you!" and not, "Oh, here is the baffling sentient origami again."
