Romeo & Juliet movie then vs. now. They are rewriting history in front of our very eyes.
@iamyesyouareno You're gonna wanna sit down to learn who got cast in these roles in Shakespeare's time.
@iamyesyouareno “Rewriting history” you know… Romeo and Juliet weren’t real people right… it was a play/book..
@iamyesyouareno 1. romeo and juliet is fictional 2. the 1996 film romeo and juliet was not the first film adaptation of william shakespeare's play 3. romeo and juliet is not a movie; it’s a play 4. francesca is not the first black woman to play juliet 5. the first juliet was played by a man
Ah yes, historical accuracy is very important when adapting 400+ year old fictional Shakespeare plays, it’s why I always demand Puck be played by an actual Fae. He literally could have chosen almost any other adaptation to compare to the new one, But he chose Leonardo DiCaprio’s 1996 super MODERNIST adaptation. Where they use guns instead of swords, where Mercutio is Black and Tybalt is played by John Leguizama with his Colombian accent. (This guy would have a fit if he learned Denzel Washington played Don Pedro a few years before that.)
@iamyesyouareno Lmfao “history” it’s a fucking play you fragile inbred
@iamyesyouareno Is anyone else getting tired of seeing androgynous, mixed race couples with ambiguous sexual orientation absolutely everywhere? Hollywood is aware that mixed race couples are only 6.9% of all couples in the US, right?
@iamyesyouareno After some years Juliet🤗
@iamyesyouareno History? O.o you know this is fictional right?
@iamyesyouareno Did you, uh, actually watch... You know what? Never mind. Carry on, as you were.
