Ridly Greig’s critics think he should have shown some restraint when hammering home his empty net goal. But if Greig has to mute his emotions, shouldn’t that same rule apply to Morgan Reilly? The Battle of Ontario reignites over a debate on ‘The Code.’ theathletic.com/5265204/2024/0…
@ian_mendes Watch the clip..Greig raises his arm and Reilly's stick rode up the arm to the head...1 game tops
@ian_mendes The Code exists but teams should break it more and disrespect each other. We need more animosity and drama in the game
@ian_mendes @PierreVLeBrun Like all of your takes, you’ve completely missed the point. This is why Canada has been on the decline. Greig’s “critics” are saying, go ahead and do that - but be ready to answer the bell because of your actions.
@ian_mendes There is always a guy who does what Greig did last night. There has always been a response to it. To deny that means you haven't played the game, or you certainly have watched through rose coloured glasses.
@ian_mendes @PierreVLeBrun Ottawa is consistently a dirty team in the NHL. If Greig is going to break the code, he deserves everything that comes his way.
@ian_mendes @PierreVLeBrun Exactly. It was a cellar Dweller team beating the big bad leafs and their cross town rival. Emotions on both sides but a cross check to the face is a bit much. Reilly was just pissed that the Sens beat them
@ian_mendes An "offensive" goal does not dictate a dangerous hit after the play is over. The bias is sad. Toronto would be crying so hard if it were the other way around. Maybe some of these fans would be more interested in wrestling?
@ian_mendes You don't get to praise Greig putting sauce on the goal then criticize Rielly for showing emotion. I'm not talking about the crosscheck, I'm talking actual emotions At this point it doesn't even matter, because any time a Leafs player shows emotions he's automatically a villain.
@ian_mendes At least what Greig did was a hockey play….
