I'm sorry, but how dense do you have to be to believe that real-life magic doesn't exist lol

Curiosity creates skills. • Skills create value • Value creates an offer • An offer creates an income • An income creates a business And a business changes your life. Too bad most people let a comfy salary suffocate their curiosities...

The Pomodoro Technique • Work intensely for 25 minutes • Take a 5-minute break • Repeat 4x, then take a longer break This creates a rhythm of focused creation and makes any big tasks manageable.

If I was starting from zero, here's what I would do: 1) Start on social media. I know I know. It's cringe and overblown at this point. But you have to understand a few points: - social media is the new media - media is where the attention is - media is how you attract people to your independent work - anyone can become a one-person media company - it's free, accessible, and arguably the highest leverage form of media today Whether you like it or not, if you want to do your own thing, social media is your best option. And no, it's not even close to saturated. Once you actually have experience in it, you see it. Last point: Building on social media forces you to *learn skills that actually matter.* You don't have to guess whether or not they are "worth learning" because you see the results. 2) Pair your personal interests with media-based skills. Start by attracting people to your interests. - Write about them while studying persuasion (posts, threads, newsletters) - Learn design basics for your banner, profile picture, and images - Supplement with education on audience building, storytelling, attention capture, etc. You learn faster when you have a project to apply your learning to. The cool thing about this: *You can apply almost any skill or interest you learn to social media.* Don't underestimate that power. 3) Monetize as soon as possible. You can wait to monetize an audience, or you can start right away. I recommend the latter. Why? Because the faster you fail, the faster you succeed. And, if you want it to do well, you need to again supplement with relative skills like offer creation. Your first product/service will suck whether you do it now or wait 6 months. - look at relevant products you've purchased in the past - look at who you follow and what they sell - think about the most impactful books you've read - look in your google drive or Kortex to see what you can slap a price tag on - create something similar, but with your own slight twist Business 101: sell what's already selling, but slightly better. Then, get unique and innovative with your next product if you want. If you want to learn how to create a micro-product or service, read this previous letter: thedankoe.com/letters/the-si…

Why Southeast Asia has the best food: 1. The tropical environment supplies an abundant variety of plants/herbs/spices 2. Tropical diseases require heavy use of natural antimicrobials/virals/parasitics (Chili, lemongrass, turmeric) 3. Hot climate made fermentation necessary for food preservation (umami flavor) 4. SE Asia was a major hub in the spice trade. Influence & access to Indian & Arab flavors 5. Hot climate + Labor-intensive economy = lots of coconut & starch to meet energy requirements 6. Food is a core part of community and cultural identity, built over thousands of years Studying abroad in Thailand was the best thing that ever happened to my food palette
