As a victim of a sexual crime I will tell you this will stay with the survivor for her whole life. Why does he get a second lease at playing in a professional league when she’s been violated in such a way? Seravalli’s rhetoric is not acceptable.

Men in hockey spaces do so much to just not give a crap about survivors of sexual crimes. I have to ask, again: why do they care so much about the perpetrator player getting a second chance but not the victim?
Instead of twisting yourself into knots and writing an essay to defend your words, just say you don’t care about victims of sexual crimes and move on.
@icehockeystick I understand your frustration. Perhaps we could shift focus to supporting victims and preventing harm, rather second chances for the few. Progress begins when we make the wellbeing of all people, especially the marginalized, the top priority in these spaces.
@icehockeystick I personally think he is expressing his care for the victim in his tweet. The offender has been convicted legally, and had quite a few sanctions. What more would you personally want to see happen before he can continue his career?
@icehockeystick Because they all believe a man’s career is far more important than a woman’s safety.
@icehockeystick because a lot of them have probably done similar things themselves 🙃🤷🏽♀️
