ఒక చాంతాడు. పిల్లలకి తినిపించడం చాలా కష్టం అనుకుంటారు కానీ వాస్తవం అది కాదు. సైంటిఫిక్ గా ఇది రుజువైంది, పైగా మా ఇంట్లో మా చిన్నోడికి అవలంబించిన విధానం వలన కూడా దీనిపైన నమ్మకం ఏర్పడింది. ఏడాది లోపు పిల్లలకి ముఖ్యంగా ఒకే రకమైన ఆహారం ముద్ద చేసేసి ఇవ్వడం, (పప్పన్నం/చారన్నం/పెరుగన్నం/సెరిలాక్), వాళ్ళని తిననివ్వకుండా మనమే కుడపటం, తినేటప్పుడు మనం ఒకకప్పు అనుకుని ఆ టార్గెట్ అయ్యేవరకూ లేదా వాంతి అయ్యేవరకూ పెట్టడం, ముద్ద ముద్దకి మింగలేడేమో అని నీళ్లు పట్టడం, తినేటప్పుడు వీడియోలు, టీవీలు చూపించడం ఇలా సవాలక్ష అనాచారాల వలన పిల్లల్లో తిండి గాడి తప్పుతుంది. పిల్లలకి తినడం నేర్పించాలి, దానంతట అదే రాదు. ఇది ఆరునెలల నుంచే ప్రారంభించాలి. ఆ వయసు పిల్లలకి మెత్తగా ఉడికించిన కూరగాయలు, దుంపలు పెట్టవచ్చు. పిల్లల్ని ఆహారంతో ఆడుకోనివ్వాలి, దీనినే ఎక్సప్లోరేషన్ అంటారు. తద్వారా ఆహారం యొక్క రుచి, గట్టిదనం, గరుకుతనం, జిగట, మెత్తనితనం మొదలైనవన్నీ తెలుసుకుంటారు. పిల్లల్ని మనతో పాటే కూర్చోపెట్టుకుని తినాలి. మనం తినే సమయంలో వాళ్ళూ తింటారు. వాళ్ళకి ముందు పెట్టేయాలి అని పనిగా పెట్టుకోకూడదు. పిల్లలు ఆహారంతో ఆడుకునేటప్పుడు వద్దనకూడదు. అలాగే కొంత ఆహారం తిన్న తరువాత ఇంకా మాటలు రాని పిల్లలు కడుపు నిండాక ఇక వద్దని సూచనలిస్తారు. ఇవి చెయ్యి తోసెయ్యటం, మెడ తిప్పటం లేదా తల పైకి ఎత్తటం, ఆహారం విసిరెయ్యటం మొదలైనవి చేస్తారు. అప్పుడు వాళ్ళ కోరికని మన్నించి ఆపెయ్యాలి. ఆహారంలో వైవిధ్యం ఉండాలి. రకరకాల పళ్ళు, ఉడికించిన అన్నం, బంగాళా దుంప, ఉడికించిన క్యారెట్లు, ఇంకా గుమ్మడికాయ మొదలైనవి ఇవ్వాలి. అదనపు ఉప్పు/తీపి అవసరం లేదు. వయసు పెరిగే కొద్దీ కొంచెం ఉప్పు ఇవ్వొచ్చు. రెండేళ్ల వరకు అసలు చక్కెర (ఏ రూపంలో నైనా - స్వీట్లు, చాకోలెట్లు, బెల్లం, కూల్ డ్రింకులు మొ) ఇవ్వకపోవటం మంచిది. ఆరునెలల వయసు నుంచీ రుచిమొగ్గలు పనిచేస్తాయి కాబట్టి, ఒక్కొక్క స్పైస్ ఆహారంతో కలిపి ఒక్కోసారి పరిచయం చేయొచ్చు. ఒకసారి ఉల్లిపాయ, మరోసారి వెల్లుల్లి, అల్లం , తరువాత దాల్చినచెక్క ఇలా చివరిగా ఒక సంవత్సరం వచ్చేసరికి అన్నిరకాల రుచులు తెలుస్తాయి. మనం ఏదైనా తినడానికి పెట్టొచ్చు. డ్రైఫ్రూప్ట్స్ వేయించి పొడి చేసి పెట్టొచ్చు. వాటిని అలాగే ఇస్తే గొంతుకి అడ్డంపడే ప్రమాదం ఉంది. ద్రాక్ష మొదలైన పళ్ళుకూడా గొంతుకి అడ్డం పడతాయి. ఇటువంటి వాటిలో జాగ్రత్త అవసరం. మాంసాహారం అన్నిరకాలు బాగా ఉడికించి మెత్తగా చేసి ఇవ్వొచ్చు. ఆమ్లెట్లు, ఉడికించిన గుడ్డులో తెల్లసొన ఇవ్వొచ్చు. పసుపుసొన సులువుగా మింగలేరు కాబట్టి కొంచెం మెత్తగా చేసి ఇవ్వొచ్చు. కాయగూరలని ఉడికించేటప్పుడు కొంచెం నెయ్యి/వెన్న వాడొచ్చు. పిల్లలు తినేటప్పుడు కొన్ని రొటీన్లు అవసరం. రోజూ ఒకేసమయానికి పెట్టడం, ఒకే కుర్చీలో, ఒకే కంచంలో పెట్టడం ముఖ్యం. తద్వారా వాళ్ళు తినడానికి మానసికంగా సిద్ధం అవుతారు. వాళ్ళు తినేటప్పుడు వాళ్ళ ముఖకవళికల్ని బట్టి వాళ్ళకి నచ్చిందీ లేనిదీ చెప్పొచ్చు. వాళ్ళు తినేటప్పుడు వాళ్ళకి కబుర్లు చెప్పాలి. వాళ్ళు తినేటప్పుడు వాళ్ళ చేతులతోనే తినేలాఅవకాశం ఇవ్వాలి. ఆహారం జారిపోతుంది, ముఖానికి, జుట్టుకి రాసుకుంటారు, ఫర్లేదు ఎంతోకాలం అలా జరగదు. కొన్నిరోజుల్లో చక్కగా కుడిచేత్తో వాళ్లే తింటారు. స్పూను తో కూడా తినడం నేర్పొచ్చు. పిల్లలు ఒక సంవత్సరం వయసు వచ్చేసరికి పెద్దవాళ్ళు ఏమేం తింటారో అన్నీ తినొచ్చు. ఆ తరువాత మెల్లిగా చేతులు కడుక్కోవడం, ఎంగిలి ఎత్తటం, పళ్లెం తీసెయ్యటం, కడగటం, చేతులు తుడుచుకోవటం ఇవన్నీ నేర్పొచ్చు. పిల్లలు దేన్నయినా సులువుగా నేర్చుకుంటారు. కొంచెం కష్టపడి నేర్పించి, కొంచెం ఓపికతో వాళ్ళు తిన్నాక శుభ్రం చేసుకుంటే దీర్ఘకాలంలో వాళ్ళతో వాదోపవాదాలకు దిగక్కర్లేదు, మనం అలసిపోవక్కర్లేదు. పిల్లలకి తినిపించే పనిలో తాము కరిగిపోయే తల్లులకు, అమ్మమ్మలకు వందనాలు.
