And is the drop sufficient evidence of the effectiveness of bans? Or is more experimentation with ban alternatives needed?

The argument that bans aren't the solution to misinformation has taken heat recently because of a drop in misinformation following a Twitter ban on Donald Trump. Is this creating a space where alternate views can't be properly addressed and discourse can't be had?

Has the public reaction to an app being used as a facilitator of violence and insurrection been appropriate? Or is it only not wholly appropriate?

Our last post discussed how Parler users' data was used by the FBI to find those involved in the Capitol riot. The CEO of Parler has now had his app removed from the App Store and is receiving death threats.

While the prevalence of bans as the solution to misinformation increases, we also see social media accounts being used as evidence of criminal activity. Cybersecurity isn't at the forefront of our current political conflict, but it's arguably having the greatest impact.

@BHSEC_JM 2. So, it seems like we’re adapting to not being able to see and hear expressions by creating a wider range of text based expression. In a way it’s working better and better when it comes to getting our messages across, and in-person contact is becoming more of a foreign feeling.

@BHSEC_JM I feel like the text expressions of laughter have developed over time. There are a number variations in them that are significant and understood by internet users. For instance, “lol” and “LOL” create a different feeling.

@BHSEC_JM For sure most of the bans are about making a statement rather than stopping his use of the app. Twitter and Facebook are the most prominent ones that actually have a deep effect on his reach with his audience. His audience has also been partially shut down through the Parler ban.

@BHSEC_JM I recently switched to a new browser that has a sidebar for all the sites I regularly use. However, it's not hard to switch back to Chrome and manually search for these domains.

@BHSEC_JM Now that online remote learning is prominent, a lot of students are definitely having a worse time focusing on the classes themselves. With so many distractions surrounding them.

Following Donald Trump’a ban from most popular internet platforms, many believe the Democratic Party has gained an unfair advantage when it comes to spread of rhetoric on the internet. Is it right for social media platforms to interfere with public statements made by politicians?

Politicians have increasingly made use of social media as a means of promoting campaigns, bills, ideas and slandering opposing politicians. The reach of political parties has been increased through the use of social media, but users also have greater ability to spread ideas.

What does Elon Musk passing Jeff Bezos in becoming the richest man in the world mean for Jeff Bezos? Could we see even more of an increase in Tesla shares in the coming years?
