I know the latest debates is about the fairness her $80k per year contract, but conservatively she'll be making $10m-$15m off the court from endorsements and merch sales. She was already the highest selling college merch name, far above any college FB player.
The WNBA pays players so little because historically they're a money, losing subsidized league. If you want them to make more, then buy the tickets and watch the games, and stop whining about someone who's actually making that happen.
Bottom line, from a purely business analytics perspective, you are witnessing a single player who has more pure eyeball drawing power and marketing & merchandising equity than the entire rest of the league combined

@iowahawkblog And now we will see how long it lasts. I hope it creates a long term growth for the league, but I'm not super confident. Looking at the NCAA next year, you have JuJu and not much else that people are going to get excited about. Maybe more stars evolve. We will see
