According to Harari, because of AI, today, no one knows what to teach young people that will still be relevant in 20 years. Reading, writing, math, I’m pretty sure they will still be relevant in 20 years.

@itaisher No offense to the field of philosophy (except @scottjshapiro and @lastpositivist; definitely meant to offend them), but AI has really revealed how silly and nonsensical many philosophers are when dealing with something somewhat novel.
@itaisher Prediction is unclear a priori. One could imagine that learning more technical subjects would be necessary to keep up with the level of interactions required to fully use AI's potential.
@itaisher What is the value of teaching math if a super-intelligence invents a direct computer brain interface that lets you do math instantly better than any human who ever lived? You are implicitly saying you don't think that will happen, not that you know what to teach if it does.
@itaisher I don't get the love for this guy. I read Sapiens since it was on so many people's list of great books. It's just a long scribe of his opinions about history. Besides being wrong about some stuff, I don't understand why I'm supposed to care what he thinks.
@itaisher Ugh I read Sapiens and was so underwhelmed. Can’t imagine his take on AI is much better
@itaisher Very few academics survive becoming pop figures with their dignity intact
@itaisher Also, how to be a decent person
@itaisher I wonder what Harai would have thought if he had been alive in 1890?
