Software is so solved it breaks down every other day.

Two critical vulnerabilities have been identified in PHP, a widely used programming language that powers websites and web applications. These vulnerabilities (CVE-2026-109618 and CVE-2026-109619) could allow malicious cyber actors to remotely execute code in PHP core, potentially compromising sensitive data and networks. The FBI urges organizations to take the following steps now: ➡️ If an immediate update is not feasible it is recommended that organizations take the system offline until it can be fully mitigated. ➡️ Immediately update affected PHP installations following the guidance on php.net. Inventory where PHP runs in your environment, prioritizing internet-facing systems and vendor products that bundle PHP. ➡️ Monitor web servers for suspicious activity, including PHP processes unexpectedly launching command shells or downloading files. Ensure appropriate process-monitoring capabilities are in place to help identify potential exploitation. ➡️ If you find signs of compromise, isolate affected systems, preserve your web server and PHP logs, and report it to your local FBI field office or ic3.gov. Those reports help us identify the actors involved and warn other organizations before they become victims. For the latest information, follow PHP’s announcement on php.net, CERT-EU Security Advisory 2026-018, and CISA’s Known Exploited Vulnerabilities catalog.

Effective Immediately, all organizations using PHP for their systems are advised to be prepared for an update addressing two critical vulnerabilities. PHP is widely used for web applications. These vulnerabilities often provide a direct path to the server's file system or database. If an immediate update is not feasible, it is recommend that organizations take the system offline until it can be fully mitigated. NSA will follow up shortly with more specific guidance.

Every year i am reminded of this cease and desist from @Shutterstock i got in 2022 about my domain slutterstock, and won. Asked for them to show me what infringement I did, they replied "oh wait, ignore that" NOT EVEN A SORRY! LMAO my guess would be that they never bother looking (clearly as anyone who looked would know it was not infrignement) some automated system detecfted the domain, saw it was "similar" and sent a bog standard copy paste cease-and-desist with scary legal words that would, under a lot of people scare them to complay i challenged it, they clearly then LOOKED at the site and was like "oh" (and judging from Appdetex in the footer of the email, that is pretty much it). I laughed when i got this email, mostly cos they started to cite all these fancy US trademark registration numbers for someone in the UK. but real talk, i would have apricated a sorry. "Having reviewed the matter, we've withdrawn our previous notice. We apologise for any concern or inconvenience this may have caused" Would have been nice, you don't need to imply wrongdoing, we are all human, we all mess up, and saying sorry is the right thing to do. I am the sort of annoying brat that looks at this email, laughs at it for a bit then challenges it. but many people aren't me. Imagine someone running a tiny personal photography gallery as a hobby. They receive an official legal notice from a multinational corporation, accusing them of intellectual property infringement, threatening legal consequences, and demanding they surrender their domain, all cos of some lazy automated system that isn't human reviewed (I imagine this would get worse with AI as this was 2022). Anyway, it doesn't matter how big you are, apologise. Proud of this one, i should frame it.

I built a Photoshop-like image editor. It’s called Compositor. robbietilton.com/compositor I originally built it for myself to get off my Adobe subscription, but decided to release it for free and make it open source. It has all the essential tools I need for compositing, with none of the BS. I know this workflow is kind of archaic in 2026, but I’m still using it until AI can actually get pixel-perfect on some of the details. The entire app is 12MB. Photoshop is 6,455MB on my machine.
