I'll leave to others whether TikTok = a security threat. I still see it—despite its considerable evolution—as an IQ threat. I'm listening to an influencer defensively explain that "today's TikTok is who we are," and if so, we are major dumbasses. Having scrolled aplenty, I cringe at how so many have been able to monetize imbecility.
@iwrotesham I think Youtube Shorts is worse. After three minutes your brain turns to mush. And afterwards, your attention span is reduced so much you struggle to read a headline. But on the upside, it's wall-to-wall women in tight shorts - my friend was telling me.
@iwrotesham Seems everything can be monetized if it’s packaged correctly. And someone will find a way to do it.
@iwrotesham People have been dumb throughout history...TikTok is hardly to blame for that. I don't think many studies even look at cognition, but the mental health data has been...ahem...unimpressive for the "harm" hypothesis.
@iwrotesham This popped out today. Not sure what tor make of it.
