Sell rules are difficult. And individual! Trail on the 10-day or the 20-day? I checked both on 800+ breakouts by Market Wizard Qullamaggie 10-day: 24% winners, +1.18R per trade 20-day: 20% winners, +1.47R per trade The 20-day wins.

Sell half after 3 days, move the stop to breakeven, trail the rest on the 10-day. We've all heard Qullamaggie (and all his prodigies) say it.. I ran it on 800 breakout entries, against simply trailing everything.. Win rate: 24% → 35% Worst drawdown: 31R → 20R

A 25% win rate doesn't mean we win every fourth trade. Qullamaggie says he risks 0.2% to 0.5% on most trades. Most of us were taught 1% I ran the same trades at each size, based on his actual long entries.. Biggest drawdown: At 0.25%: 16% At 0.5%: 30% At 1%: 51%
