@TradetheMatrix1 Am I correct in thinking that part of the reason for this is that rigger's "edge" decreases when there is not enough newbies to jump in on pumps and push them higher? Riggers pump the stock, but if not enough people jump in then they themselves are left holding the bag?

It is true that small caps are dependent on riggers showing up, but there's just no reason they would walk away seemingly overnight. There would need to be some sort of system change, i.e. SEC meaningfully cracking down.

@Fearless_Trades Don’t you think momentum trading is a chain reaction that goes both ways? Like if there is nothing moving then traders become more hesitant and so go more hands off, etc. Then the opposite happens when it’s hot.

@TheOneLanceB You pointed to the key to how edge works. You are picking up on which direction an asset is heading before it becomes *obvious*. You get paid for the uncertainty. So it's about threading the needle between too early and too late.

@jrtradesuwu Indeed, but this is just one particular pattern. Another very influential data point is the price action/speed of both the primary and secondary rejection. There are other factors like you say but when the conditions are right this is a +EV play for sure.

@madaznfootballr I recommend making a new rule. As soon as anything halts up even once, walk away from it completely. Trading around halts as a short seller is a death sentence IMO. It's also not necessary.

@SRxTrades I think you mean more external information, correct. Because refining your edge is done by analyzing your trades and adjusting your rules. In some sense that is new “information”.
