Just cause for eviction is the law of the land in Colorado.
Cool, I'm going to up the rent on tenants knowing that I'll have to deal with more headaches from govn't over reach. And I don't gauge, I just know if I have a problem tenant that will basically have the right to squat in my home until the end of time, I better be paid well for it.
@javier_mabrey This isn’t going to do what you think it is. Landlords will simply raise rents to make up for lost income and litigation resulting from getting deadbeats out of their properties. Well done democrats!
@javier_mabrey What property owner in his or her right mind would ever explicitly want to rent out an investment under these circumstances? Purchasing a second home for use as a rental property was something I was considering at one point, but I'll never do it in this state.
@javier_mabrey So here’s what happens when you do this: it gets harder for landlords to do business in the state. So what do they do? Many start doing business in other states. The supply of rentals in CO therefore goes down. And rents go up. How do I know? It’s exactly what I did.
@javier_mabrey Rents are about to soar and housing prices will skyrocket. Rich people who already own property will love it.
@javier_mabrey Come to Cali-rado! All squatters are welcome!
@javier_mabrey what incentive would this create for me to rent out a property i own? if your argument is that i shouldnt own an extra property, what would stop me from owning a property and just holding on to it, letting it fallow, until a developer wants to buy it?
