@cathsimard_ Ce n'est pas vraiment une question de reproduire tes oeuvres, ces modèles compressent, avec perte, l'information utilisées pour les entraîner; ils ne seront jamais capable de reproduire parfaitement ton travail. Le problème c'est que ton travail génère du $ que tu ne reçois pas.

@e_salvaggio I agree that we should mitigate immediate harms, but forecasting future harms is also a necessity if only so that we can be more proactive and less reactive. My next read: Imaginable: How to See the Future Coming and Feel Ready for Anything, by Jane McGonigal.

Well though thread by @kortizart on how AI is harming individuals, groups and communities and how companies profit from IP, copyrighted work and personal data. I'll add companies like @huggingface in this also because they host such models and they profit from it.

@TheDividendGuy @DividendesFNB Si tu es à Lisbonne, Sintra n'est pas très loin et c'est une ville à visiter. À partir de Porto, faire la vallée du Douro en voiture c'est vraiment intéressant (faut aimer les routes escarpées).

@TomInvesting Interesting analogy. My only issue is with book value. It's a loaded accounting number. It's an historical cost that could distort the real value given the assets fair market price.

@StockTrades_CA OK, so someone in the US who has lock a mortgage at the beginning of 2022 as a fix rate of ~3% for the next 30 years? Only new mortgage (new home owners) will be stuck with a 8%+ for the next 30 years? Could they renegotiate their rate later if rates go down? If not, that hurts.

@utunga @mmitchell_ai It's not just the industry, but the community as well. The community is in "popularity/notoriety" mode : who's going to be 1st. Compagnie like @huggingface hides behind its TOS, knowing very well what their users do because it suits them (more visibility, more paying customers).

@IoPzKCreations @_akhaliq @huggingface You can recreate artworks from other artists as long as it for your personal use or fall under fair use. Both are well documented if you are interested. Also, under the doctrine of substantial similarly, a work can be found to infringe copyright. This includes art create by AI.

@_nateraw I agree, it would be a good thing for ML. But it would be better if models were not using copyrighted works to begin with. Like, it's fine that © work are use in research, but the model should not be made public, only what the researchers learns (papers).

@0xjimm @JThomasBurgess @_akhaliq @huggingface You are "right", but according to the TOS of Huggin Face :"You represent and warrant that you have ownership, control, [...] , or otherwise have the right to do so." My guess is that the user who uploaded ADv3 doesn't since it is built on top of SD and images from the TV show.
