@jbkinney @WashburneAlex I responded to both the Worobey and Holmes why-question. Which has no explanation in their thinking, but at least a possible/plausible one if you allow for some element of the circumstantial lab facts.
@jbkinney You wonder why? Most people would agree that an army is necessary but should not run a country. Why should we accept that it directs science on viruses and radiation?
