Yes, Laz Diaz missed a strikeout call for Nathan Eovaldi in the ninth. But long before that, the Red Sox offense had plenty of opportunities and didn’t capitalize going 0-for-9 with RISP and leaving 11 men on base. On the Game 4 loss theathletic.com/2901556/2021/1…
@jcmccaffrey @jaysonst Also, in that same inning, Diaz gave Eovaldi 2 strikes that were well off the plate. It all evens out in the end.
@jcmccaffrey Could not agree more. Yes Diaz had a terrible night behind the plate and that is not acceptable, but the Red Sox failure to score when they had the chance determined the outcome of that game. It's baseball. Today is a new day - Go Red Sox!
@jcmccaffrey It’s like the Sox fans who blamed Buckner for 86 when they had plenty of other opportunity to lock it down. Always need a scapegoat for missed chances.
@jcmccaffrey They didnt do there job and hit with runners on base. And ump didnt do his job.
@jcmccaffrey That wasn’t the only horrible call though. There were lots of missed calls & those affected other crucial at bats for the Red Sox. Called 3rd strike on JD. Called strike two on Renfroe that made it 0-2 instead of 1-1. Point is it affected the whole game & is unacceptable.
