bs in philosophy, ai semanticist / pragmatist. focuses: pedagogy, philosophy of language, philosophy of mind, and formal logic. prompt engineering is neat.jcsemantics.ai here. or maybe not.Joined June 2025
@cursor_ai Well if cursor can control the browser, the next step is obvious: AI driven end to end testing, real-time UI refactoring, and agents that don’t just debug your app. they literally fix it live while you ship.
Amazing time to be alive and a “developer”!
friendly fyi that gpt5 instant is the best for personas and preventing drift. i notice the thinking models tend to drift back into normie gpt assistant mode a lottttt.
this is at least with my current prompting methods (note to self: i should revisit this for thinking models)
philosopher of language john searle, most well known for his ‘chinese room’ thought experiment, lived to see llms but died alone and disgraced because of unsubstantiated accusations brought by a grad student during peak metoo hysteria. nobody at cal had ever been held to account.
i don't know why, but i don't fully believe this. it seems way too earlier in this tech to have what appears to be nearly-full alignment.
interested to see what prompt engineers and red teams come up with to test this.
ChatGPT already helps millions of people find what to buy. Now it can help them buy it too.
We’re introducing Instant Checkout in ChatGPT with @Etsy and @Shopify, and open-sourcing the Agentic Commerce Protocol that powers it, built with @stripe, so more merchants and developers…
told it to use git for source control and to keep some files for tracking themes etc across chapters, and it's doing very well. seems coherent so far (100± pages done).
I've just drafted a new blogpost
"The Bitter Lesson's Bitter Lesson"
Richard Sutton and Dwarkesh discussed the Bitter Lesson, where Richard argued that babies and animals don’t learn through imitation, so state-of-the-art LLMs are pursuing the wrong path by imitating humans…

@jcsemantics I know I feel the same that’s why I’m trying to help people get ready!
I get change is scary but you don’t deal with it by pretending it’s not happening.
You gotta face it head on.
@VoidStateKate Yeah I'm not defending the router change not being explicitly shown but people are overreacting to this, they're acting like 4o got entirely removed
and honestly, OpenAI should do it now, and stop all of this
when you do anything new whether it’s writing, building, or shipping don’t confuse the volume of outward engagement with the depth of actual impact. the highest leverage is usually happening invisibly.
you’ll have this very visceral long tail of silent readers who never click…
OpenAI employees saying GRPO and other open-source research is significantly behind frontier tech
what kinds of RL algorithms could frontier labs be using?
