1/ After being stuck in #Gaza for almost seven months under constant bombardment, my younger sister—who celebrated #Hamas’s Oct 7th attacks at the time—just got to our family’s home in Egypt. When I asked her about the public sentiment in Gaza, she told me that everyone in the town
2/ where she had taken shelter was blaming Hamas for everything. She also mentioned that people are turning against Hamas, and families are becoming more empowered in front of the group's members.
@jehadsaftawi @mmmmm_layla Perhaps, but Gazan civilians VOTED OVERWHELMINGLY for Hamas.
@jehadsaftawi I really want to feel sorry for Gazan for the objectively horrible human tragedy but it's hard to reconcile with the fact they mostly supported the Oct 7 massacre and are still fairly passive in ending this war by getting rid of Hamas and surrendering the hostages.
@jehadsaftawi I'm Glad she is safe, being stuck there must have been awful
@jehadsaftawi Unfortunately, everybody “loves” and “respects” the person holding the gun. What will they say and do once Israel puts their guard down, I wonder.
@jehadsaftawi Okay, they're blaming Hamas. Does that mean they are willing to accept the existence of a sovereign Jewish state -- of any size whatsoever -- between the river and the sea? I doubt it.
@jehadsaftawi The Gaza civilians are turning against Hamas. Only a matter of time, it’s all crumbling for them.
