Everyone thinks startups should be a bunch of young folks, but I tend to disagree Had an engineer start in the UK and on his first day while we were all sleeping he got to work immediately. We got on the welcome call & he was just like “yeah I did that”, “yeah I did that too”.
@jessfraz Usually day 1 is lots of hand holding and setup of access
@jessfraz We have 30 people and 24 robotics companies in the rear view mirror collectively. That’s a huge advantage.
@jessfraz I wake up on the east coast, take my kids to school, and get 3+ hours of deep work done before my west coast team wakes up. It’s pretty awesome.
@jessfraz I think companies of any size should have both young and experienced engineers, I guess the only issue is that experience has usualiy a higher cost
@jessfraz Well remember, us “seasoned” Engineers invented startups. Been there, done that, have the tshirts of many startups. 🤣
@jessfraz Age is irrelevant here, you just want people that act – like this person. There are seniors that act, seniors that dont act – and juniors in both camps too. Coaching someone without this mindset from the get-go is an uphill battle.
@jessfraz Companies that are built to last tend to have a mix of ages in them.
@jessfraz Gotta love the ambition a bit but you are doing great.
@jessfraz Experience is a great asset. I appreciate being young at the startup I worked at and we had a good mix of young and experience.
