As there's some arguing going on over J.D. Salinger and The Catcher In The Rye, here's this: probably the most beautiful sentence I've ever read. 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
@johnfeath What book/story is that from?
@johnfeath Sir: I’ve always been taken by this short excerpt from Huckleberry Finn:
@johnfeath It's funny how we read a fairly simply sentence & attach such beauty and meaning to it. Reminds me of that homeless guy who told John Lennon, "You can syndicate any boat you row" blew his mind. John was like, "But it didn't mean anything. I was just playing with words."
@johnfeath Usually, the best art is simple and accessible.
@johnfeath I love the man’s writing. I will not abide arguments.
@johnfeath “She was a girl who for a ringing phone dropped exactly nothing.” Perfect Day for Bananfish #JDSalinger
@johnfeath 🥰 I steer clear of those kind of arguments now, for fear they'll tarnish something I love. I hate the qualifying process. I remember late nights, discussing the validity of a poem or a quote or a book & coming away wishing, just reading it had been enough.
