This really is not an organization that fires its managers willy-nilly. The previous two guys were here for almost 23 years total—essentially DeWitt’s entire ownership. This development really is extraordinary. And I want to know everything. #STLCards
@johnrabe If shildt firing happen if cardinals didn’t go on win streak I think we’d be celebrating. The fact it happened after the September run makes me think Mo wants a puppet as a manager. And shildt got sick of Mo trying to control how he did his job he started ignoring him.I’m concerned
@StarsFan30 Just impossible to know. It could be that. It could be that the front office got tired of him using a robotic late-innings approach or caving to veterans. Or not using a strategy they’re trying to build for. There are just many possibilities
@johnrabe @StarsFan30 But all of that would have been a slow build. If they’re telling the truth about it not being based on results and how the games were managed, then SOMETHING happened in the last 4-5 days. It just makes zero sense.
@zedwards41 @johnrabe @StarsFan30 They abandoned the Albert approach for 3 weeks and Shildt told Mo the dude needs to go. Mo had a philosophical difference about that.
@Cardinals11in11 @johnrabe @StarsFan30 Logical theory. But, I don't think hitting philosophy or approach would A) be able to be changed that swiftly, in September, and B) have tangible results that quickly. Three weeks is a minute sample size.
@zedwards41 @Cardinals11in11 @StarsFan30 I agree with this. One could just as easily argue that O'Neill, Bader, Edman, Rondon, Carlso, Sosa, etc. were products of the Albert approach and that the older guys were slower to buy in but finally did. I've found Jeff Albert to be a Rorschach blot for people's pet theories.
