Long before the mask wars, I wore a mask on long plane or train rides cause I kept coming home from business trips sick as a dog. I know it is anecdotal, but the amount of times I got sick because of a business trip after I started masking went to 0. Just imagine if everyone did.

Meanwhile, I can't possibly understand the removal of zero-cost steps like this -- especially given the likelihood of a reversal in policy in just a few months. While Japan is starting to ease policy, masks in airlines and public transport will likely continue for a long time.

This never surprised me because masks have such a stigma in the US. Working in a Japanese company in the US really brought this out and that was before it was a hot button issue.

Even before the pandemic it always amazed me that a smart company that relies so heavily on Asian markets would be unaware (or just not care) that people wear face masks for much of the year in many countries. This functionality could have been added years ago.

I still keep my 10+ year old HP laptop because it has 4 USB A ports, a VGA port, an IEEE 1394, a full size display port, and Ethernet port, a modem port AND one of those laptop card slots. I feel like there an external SATA too. They really don’t make them like they used to.

Years later as I’m thinking about upgrading my 13”, I still feel like 1 USB-A port (and MicroSD, HDMI) would have made the MacBook Pros more pro.
