In 2020, there was the largest one-year increase in homicide since 1960. This year, the US is experiencing the largest decrease. What's driving the spike and the decline? Gun crime. Here's a graphic of non-gun homicide to make that point.

I am thrilled to announce that I have joined the Innocence Project as the Director of Policy. I am returning to the values I cherished as a young public defender by advocating for access to courts, supporting exonerees, and reducing the risk of wrongful convictions in the future.

New study finds that a police bicycle patrol unit in a well-established drug market improved social conditions and got drugs off the street, but had a significant **opposite** effect on violent crimes and shootings. Link to the article is at the end of the thread:
We've heard a lot about body-worn cameras in policing, but what about in jails and prisons? A team and I have a few papers currently under review, but I want to highlight some of the big findings from the FIRST randomized-controlled trial of body-worn cameras in a jail setting:
