4 points out of 6 available against two very good teams in Samford/Mercer on the road is about as good of a start as you could want for @catamountsoccer in the SOCON. Time to return home and get ready for a battle against Furman in another pivotal early conference matchup.

A banger of a SOCON opener for Samford v Western Carolina. Phenomenal match that showed each team has incredible strengths but also exposed some weaknesses for both sides. A 3rd consecutive tournament championship match between these two would be a slobberknocker for the ages.

Demarco blisters a shot on target but a great save by Hall to keep it even in the last 8 minutes. These two teams are absolutely throwing haymakers at each other. Beautiful, wonderful, madness of a match.

I completely disagree with the commentary on this game saying Samford has been clearly the better team. It has been a seesaw game with runs of momentum, both teams playing really well. There isn’t a result that would be against run of play or out of line at this point.

A back and forth match with phenomenal chances and saves for the Cats and the Bulldogs. It’s a corner kick that makes the difference with Samford up 1-0. Each of the Championship matches ended 1-0, but this one feels like there will be more goals in it.

You cannot expect more from an offense rotating back up QB’s than 31 points. The defense brought back the most players, was expected to do more and hasn’t.
