AI may be starting to automate part of automation itself. FANUC’s AI Welding Agent doesn’t just make a robot smarter. It begins to take on some of the work required to tell the robot what to do. That could be a much bigger shift than it first appears.

Industrial robots are already incredibly precise. The expensive part is often everything around them: programming, teaching, setup, process planning. If AI can reduce that work, robotics could become viable for far more high-mix, low-volume factories.
