@Constababble 1) Publishing: skip journals and reviewers completely. Instead, an arXiv-like platform where each paper can be reviewed and ranked by the community. All reviews are public, reviewers also get ranked. This system perfectly works for book reviews.

@Constababble 2) Funding: give more funds to students/PostDocs than to PI's. This way, some power is taken from PI's and it will make them eager to attract people to work with. When hiring PI's, ask for reviews from their students/PostDocs.

@Constababble 3) Power structures. PIs a currently doing scientific advisory, marketing, finances, hiring, management, administration, psychological support. No single person is competent in all these areas. Redistribute power and responsibilities of PIs.
