"As Russia is trying to cut off the flow of information in Ukraine by attacking its communications infrastructure, the British news outlet BBC is revisiting a broadcasting tactic popularized during World War II: shortwave radio." nytimes.com/2022/03/03/bus…
@kaitlancollins BBC world service have been doing this on the Korean peninsula since 2017.
@kaitlancollins How does one listen to short wave radio? It would be great if someone could develop a free app for phones, so people could listen that way. However that means you need a wifi connection
@kaitlancollins Imagine a hundred thousand of these shortwave radios showing up all over Ukraine . . . Hey @amazon can you make this happen? #hamradio #Ukraine #UkraineRussia #UkraineRussianWar #Russia @kaitlancollins @BBC @CNN amazon.com/Emergency-Rayn…
@kaitlancollins BBC World News ! When I was little, all the adults around me used to listen to the World news & cricket matches on shortwave radios. Russians can't bomb those radio waves away . @BBCWorld
@kaitlancollins My husband is a Short-wave operator and during Desert Storm many radio stations called him up asking for information. It was so startling hearing alarms and shouting to get on gas masks.
@kaitlancollins Excellent! I was wondering if something like this would work. Can they send signals into Russia, too? I don't think they're going to get any information anymore.
@kaitlancollins @Kris_Sacrebleu Back to reliable basics when shit hits the fan.
