So lovely to start my day with @kathsmithot and @asi_wise dropping into our first module of learning (towards an #MSc for some and #ICEASI certification for others) and getting to know #LifelongLearners better
2/2 And if all those ill & injured got the rehab they need they could return to work & so much quicker. Putting the blame on individuals is avoiding tackling the real issue-the NHS needs to be funded properly, the workforce plan needs to be delivered & rehab must be a priority!
I’m getting v cross about this work shy/sick-note debate! People are off work because they are waiting so long for treatment (eg 18 mths for THR in our area) & are in pain. We don’t need ‘work & health’ specialists-we have them (PTs & OTs) but not enough of them! 1/2

2/2 And if all those ill & injured got the rehab they need they could return to work & so much quicker. Putting the blame on individuals is avoiding tackling the real issue-the NHS needs to be funded properly, the workforce plan needs to be delivered & rehab must be a priority!

How can any of this include Black & minoritised peoples when #OccupationalTherapy theories, practice, & culture are eurocentric?
I particularly loved the presentation on doing,being,becoming and belonging in forensic/justice by @charfrenchOT - I would love to introduce this more formal framework into our community forensic service. I think it would really boost the understanding of occupational therapy.
