I have to switch off the tv instantly whenever I see the trope of two non-chinese actors trying to speak mandarin, are absolutely mangling it, yet are pretending they're speaking well (for some plot point). being bad at it is totally fine, but the pretending really gets to me.

school is boring for kids because it's bottoms-up, not top-down, learning. you don't start from an interesting question or project, but from the lowest level mechanics. same for most music lessons. in a world where keeping your attention is everything, top-down is so much better

as much as web-based codex is awesome and probably will be the future paradigm, claude code wins for now because you're not gonna just get what you want, so have to be down there in the muck, and claude code at least feels like they're right there in the muck with you @OpenAI
