When I was 16, I didn’t think I was autistic. I thought it was perfectly normal to have network protocols and human-computer interfaces as special interests.

I never had a lot of friends, and certainly no one I knew IRL went as deep with computers as quickly as I did. I was always a weird kid. I found purpose helping other kids online. I was teaching programming via chat and forums. Eventually, we got a domain and posted tutorials.
@kevinswiber Sounds pretty normal to me, that’s what I was like at 16, and I don’t think I am autistic (beg to differ if you like).
@kevinswiber I knew I was interested in things only maybe 1-5 people in my 800 person middle school even knew existed
