LA is trying to psychically read the intentions of drivers through their dark tinted glass as you’re walking or cycling not knowing if they are motioning you to go or if they are looking at a screen ready to run you over.

confronting this with my comp exams and defining my major-minor fields, broadly relations of land/scape through Blackness and Indigeneity and the inscription, dis/possession, and commodification of the Earth. History and knowledge require so much undoing and space for methods

May sound like a grouch, but if one is extolling their racial and social justice or DEI work without mentioning union organizing or other means of collective action for livable wages, red flags for me. Like it or not, future of teaching+educating will require labor organizing.

Time is now to further organize faculty and students. I know we are burned out, trying to get back to “normal” learning and research, overstretched, but admins and State of CA pushing for more austerity makes this all the more urgent as @miriamkp and @michael_chwe state.
