IMO this is less about physical conditioning & more about team culture & self discipline for the sake of the team. The old belief in Japanese baseball was “the nail that sticks up must be hammered down.” Today’s pro game in Japan is more accommodating to individual differences.

HEADS UP DEFENSIVE PLAY Pitcher intentionally drops this popped up sac bunt w/runners on 1st & 2nd to get a double play. Know that infield fly does not apply to bunts & you must let the bunt hit the ground without touching your glove or body.This was obviously repped in practice.
