In principle, what should intelligence look like as a function of effort? In current computer systems it’s often said to be approximately logarithmic. But should it be linear, exponential, logistic, something else? If you have a position, give a reason.

Knowledge doesn’t grow linearly with experience. Many 45 year olds are less learned than some 20 year olds. Age can bring wisdom or just a pile of errors and biases. In fact, it’s easier to compound errors over time than to get closer to truth.

Perhaps a majority of brilliant ideas, near their conception, are not only dismissed, but often ridiculed. My understanding is that early versions of GPT were written off out of hand by supposed luminaries (who now wholeheartedly embrace and replicate the technology). 1/2
