The vast majority of people opposed to the Great Replacement hold a bourgeois view of what the police are, and by extension, of what the state is. All it takes is for an institution to fly the tricolor flag for people to believe that this institution is their own. This is why patriotism is toxic. Patriotism is a show of support for the country and its governing bodies, which are perceived as the legitimate expression of the will of the people. True, they think, the current government is bad, but not the institutions that defend it; and as long as an electoral victory is secured, these institutions will defend the new policy with the same rigor. This is the bourgeois, parliamentary, legalistic conception of the state. It is this plebiscite that gives rise to absurd bourgeois slogans such as “Support the police.” This conception was rightly denounced by Lenin and remains relevant today. “The replacement of the police by a people’s militia is a reform dictated by the entire course of the revolution and is currently being implemented in most regions of Russia.
