Muslim Turks, under the commands of Mustafa Kemal, sold the bones of the murdered Greeks and Armenians. After the genocide and expulsion of the Greeks from Asia Minor, ships loaded with the remains of Greeks and Armenians sailed on their way to Western Europe. Turkey sold the bones of the dead. Industries used them to bleach sugar and tobacco. They ground them into fertilizer. At least 400 tons. More than 50,000 dead. Thousands of men, women, and children fell into the hands of the Kemalist army and the irregulars. Women were raped in groups. Men were tortured without limit. Entire villages that stayed behind, hoping their Turkish neighbors would show mercy, were executed. The doors of the houses in Smyrna were smashed and the crowds of the enraged Muslims rushed upon many Greeks. Christians who were shut up in their houses and awaited with anguish dishonor and death. Women were raped, men were slaughtered, and whatever was most valuable was stolen. In the streets of Smyrna there were hundreds of corpses which stank and made the air suffocating. Those who escaped the slaughter were seized by the Turkish military authorities and led like sheep, in groups, to various concentration camps outside Smyrna, where they were shut in. The hostages from Asia Minor and the region of Pontus were driven on death marches across thousands of kilometers. Barefoot. Nearly naked. Beaten by Muslims along the way. Many died of thirst in the ravines of Magnesia. Those ravines supplied the bones Kemal later sold. The survivors were sent to labor battalions. They rebuilt the infrastructure of the new Turkish state under conditions designed to finish them. After Lausanne, 1.5 million refugees arrived in Greece searching for relatives who never came home. This is not ancient history. This is the century that produced us. This is the story of our grandparents. They want us to forget. They want the bones to remain fertilizer and the names to remain numbers. The genocide was orchestrated by Mustafa Kemal & the Young Turks, & it was racially and religiously motivated in order to create their Islamic pseudo-nation 100 years ago. They butchered, tortured, raped, burnt and starved to death through the death marches millions of Greeks, Armenians and Assyrians only because of their race and religion. The strongest evidence is that the only people who survived and remained in Turkey were those who converted. From Greeks and Armenians, they became Muslim Turks, a fake identity with no historical continuation and no footprint in Asia Minor. The true barbarian is the one who turns the dead into raw material and then lectures the living about civilization. @restitutorII Aujourd’hui l’ 🇦🇿 a repris le Karabagh mais s’oppose toujours à la normalisation. Aliyev ne sera rassasié que lorsqu’il aura bouffé la moitié de 🇦🇲 au moins. Et il y prépare activement son peuple, avec la fable de l’Azerbaïdjan occidental.

@restitutorII La normalisation aurait dû être faite en 2009 déjà, le gouvernement arménien n’a pas attendu Pashinyan pour cesser de la conditionner à la reconnaissance du genocide. A l’époque l’🇦🇿 a fait pression contre à cause de l’ « occupation » du Karabagh.1/2

@restitutorII J’aurais aimé voir comment l’Azerbaïdjan se serait débrouillé en 2020 sans l’aide de la Turquie. Il aurait peut-être remporté la victoire, mais à un prix vraisemblablement beaucoup plus élevé.

@CharmOfCulture Did you know the north tower and spire were dismantled stone by stone in 1846–47 after becoming structurally unsafe? Their reconstruction is now underway, using detailed 19th-century surveys and surviving original stonework, with completion planned for the end of the decade.

@CharmOfCulture Saint-Denis is beautiful: the birthplace of Gothic architecture and burial place of the kings of France, though their tombs were desecrated during the Revolution. It’s a shame its modern surroundings feel so far removed from the historic “old France” atmosphere one might expect.

@MemoryMedieval Beauvais Cathedral’s construction was plagued by disaster: the choir partly collapsed in 1284, its huge spire fell in 1573, badly damaging the cathedral, funds repeatedly ran short, and by the time work might have resumed, Gothic architecture had gone out of fashion.
