As well as regularly appearing as a subtle apotropaic mark the daisy-wheel symbol can appear as an obvious and deliberate decorative motif in architecture and furniture such as this 17th century chest.

@folkmagicman It’s common on chests in Norway and Switzerland, too. Given that chests were often used to store valuables, it seems a fair guess that the intention is protective.
