... But rather than not be angry VAPs just scramble to post hoc justify being mad at what is in the end just a fun topical applied maths elective. Let go of the initial anger and you see that at worst the sin here is kinda overhyping the political significance of a niche course.
@lastpositivist "They are just trying to get out of taking math," says the man who failed Precalculus.
@lastpositivist In the article it states pretty clearly that the class is a political project to remove "European influence" in mathematics and decolonize the field. It's completely fair that people don't want their taxes going to this stuff.
@lastpositivist it would be helpful if they didn't present this course as "decolonising math", which is naturally antagonizing
@lastpositivist What's colonial about mathematics? Genuinely what is?
@lastpositivist Let's do a culture war over one (1) course taught in one (1) math department at one (1) university in Australia. The right wing not beating the snow flake charges
@lastpositivist I want a culture war over PEMDAS vs BODMAS
@lastpositivist this is i think a fake math class for athletes and art students and it accidentally was nooticed imo
@lastpositivist also this though!
