When I was nine we had a family over for dinner. I was drawing, and one of the other kids asked if he could take a drawing and show it to his Mom. He wanted to impress her by telling her he did it. That’s why AI targets creative stuff. People want cheap status.

The more I understand having a good life, the more I see it as a practice of trimming the stuff that compromises my integrity. That lets me focus on things that matter, and areas where I can make a difference. Self worth = happiness = agency = priorities = boundaries.

it terrifies me how many talented people are contributing to a future they wouldn't want to live in. building something addictive. exploitative. destructive. something they'll ban their own kids from using. and for what? a paycheck? surely there's a better way to use your gifts?
