@professor_dave @ClaireR101010 A school cannot displace parental responsibility
@leakylike @professor_dave @ClaireR101010 Sometimes it must. When you know the child is at risk in the home, it is your duty. The Baby P case showed that.
@teacherinwinch @professor_dave @ClaireR101010 No Schools responsibility is to involve agencies who can displace parental responsibility When there is such risk to a child The social workers , courts & police make those judgements Not teaching staff
@leakylike @professor_dave @ClaireR101010 You are in error. EVERY SINGLE YEAR school staff are gathered and reminded that the law says it IS our responsibility. OFSTED will check that we are and failing to do it makes the school “Inadequate” on the spot. School staff are often the first to notice a problem.
@teacherinwinch @professor_dave @ClaireR101010 No I'm not I'm very well aware of schools duty to report concerns TO those agencies who can assess risk AND if needed intervene Schools cannot displace parental responsibility
@leakylike @professor_dave @ClaireR101010 I beg to differ. We report to agencies but we do not share information with anyone outside those agencies, parents included unless directed by social workers.
@ClaireR101010 @teacherinwinch @leakylike Yes, people said the same about gay kids back in the days of Section 28.
@ClaireR101010 @teacherinwinch @leakylike As a gay teenager, I suffered exactly the abuse, ridicule, bullying and exclusion that trans and non-binary teenagers are suffering from now.
@professor_dave @ClaireR101010 @teacherinwinch No you didn't Dave These children are not you Stop projecting & drawing false equivalence The causes of these children's distress must be addressed by parents & teachers
